Chinese Golf Legend Leads Junior Golf Lesson at Yonex Country Club

04 October 2016

Last week Chinese golf legend Zhang Lianwei paid a visit to the Yonex Country Club to lead a golf lesson for 7 lucky local juniors.

A true legend of golf, Zhang Lianwei boasts an incredible career on the Asian Tour. In 2003, he made history by becoming the first Chinese golfer to ever win on the European Tour, and would later become the first Chinese to compete in the Masters Tournament. His most recent achievement was this past June, when he won the SSE Enterprise Wales Senior Open title on the European Seniors Tour.

One of China’s main golf pioneers; he has devoted part of his career to nurturing young golf talent. Needless to say, receiving instruction from this golf legend was a huge treat for the 7 juniors. Zhang was happy to answer the young golfers’ questions, offering sage advice on topics ranging from fixing slices and controlling ball trajectory.

Extending late into the evening, Zhang demonstrated before the juniors and checked their swings, all while providing detailed instruction. It was a very valuable experience for Japan’s aspiring young junior golfers.
